About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach the course FRA1710 Section K, Analyse, écriture et argumentation I, during the 2027 Winter Semester in the Faculty of Arts, Department of French. The course involves the reading and analysis of works from different literary genres and themes relevant to contemporary issues. Students will practice writing skills through exercises such as summarizing and analytical reports, and address common grammatical errors. The course is delivered in a synchronous virtual mode with a weekly three-hour online session, accessible via Brightspace. However, the mid-term exam (week 6) and the final exam will be held in person. Teaching and communication will be conducted remotely using digital tools like Teams, Brightspace, Microsoft Outlook, and Wooclap, requiring acquired or willingness to acquire digital competence. The course employs a 'flipped classroom' pedagogy, promoting active learning by first exposing students to theoretical content through self-study activities, followed by a structured lecture to clarify and deepen concepts. The syllabus, including texts, session structure, and theoretical content, is predetermined. A professor's guide will be available before the semester begins. Professors are required to use the Brightspace toolkit developed by the Department and SAEA and adhere to the Guide for Faculty, ensuring uniformity in evaluations and adherence to the established schedule for all sections. Professors are responsible for a portion of the grading, supervising teaching assistants' grading, and overseeing TAs during exams. Typical tasks include preparing PowerPoint presentations, explanatory documents, answer keys, and participating in coordination team discussions. Professors must manage a high volume of emails from students, TAs, the coordinator, and other instructors teaching the same course. The role demands strong collaboration skills with the pedagogical team, often under tight deadlines. Professors must be available for scheduled virtual sessions and be present for in-person exam supervision.
