About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Analyse, écriture et argumentation I (FRA1710 Section D) during the Fall 2026 semester. The course involves the lecture and analysis of works from different literary genres and contemporary topics, with a focus on writing practice through exercises like summarization and analytical reports, and addressing common grammatical errors. The course is delivered in person with a weekly three-hour class session, utilizing a "flipped classroom" approach that emphasizes active learning. Students are first exposed to theoretical content through self-study activities, followed by a structured lecture to clarify and deepen understanding. The syllabus, including texts, session structure, and theoretical content, is predetermined. A professor's guide will be available. Professors are required to use the Brightspace "toolkit" developed by the Department and SAEA, and adhere to the Guide for Professors to ensure uniformity in evaluations and adherence to the established schedule. Responsibilities include a portion of the grading, supervising teaching assistants' grading, and overseeing TAs during exams. Professors will also handle typical tasks such as preparing PowerPoints, explanatory documents, and answer keys, participating in coordination team discussions, and managing a high volume of emails. The role requires strong collaboration skills with the pedagogical team, especially given tight deadlines. Proficiency with communication and teaching tools like TEAMS, Microsoft Outlook, ZOOM, Brightspace, and EXCEL is expected, or a willingness to acquire these skills. Professors must be on-site as the course is in-person.
