About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Analyse, écriture et argumentation I (FRA1710 Section H) during the Fall 2026 semester. The course involves the lecture and analysis of works from different literary fields or genres, focusing on contemporary issues. Students will practice writing through exercises such as summaries and analytical reports, and common grammatical errors will be addressed. This section is delivered in person, with one three-hour weekly class session. The course utilizes a 'flipped classroom' pedagogy, promoting active learning by first exposing students to theoretical content through self-directed activities, followed by a structured lecture to clarify and deepen concepts. The syllabus, including texts, session structure, and theoretical content, is predetermined. A professor's guide will be available before the session begins. Professors are required to use the Brightspace toolkit developed by the Department and SAEA, and adhere to all points in the Guide to Faculty, ensuring uniformity in evaluations and strict adherence to the pre-established schedule for all sections. Professors are responsible for a portion of the grading (according to established rules), overseeing grading by teaching assistants, and supervising teaching assistants during exam proctoring. Typical tasks include preparing PowerPoints, explanatory documents, answer keys, participating in coordination team discussions, and managing a high volume of emails with students, teaching assistants, the coordinator, and other professors teaching the same course. The course delivery requires strong collaboration skills with the pedagogical team, especially given potentially tight deadlines. Proficiency in or willingness to learn preferred communication and teaching tools (TEAMS, Microsoft Outlook, ZOOM, Brightspace, EXCEL, etc.) is necessary. Professors must be on-site as the course is delivered in person.

Requirements

Doctorat en lettres françaises ou dans un domaine équivalent.
Have already taught at least one literature course.
Competence in or willingness to acquire skills in TEAMS, Microsoft Outlook, ZOOM, Brightspace, EXCEL, etc.
Be on-site for in-person delivery.
