The University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach SOC2306 A00 - Social Reconfigurations in Africa during the 2027 Winter Semester. This course will explore main societal issues currently faced by the African continent (Maghreb and sub-Saharan), including rapid urbanization, dramatic growth in school enrollment and literacy rate, youthful population structure, and new forms of gender relationships. It will also involve deconstructing stereotypical depictions of Africa in the media and political discourses, exploring the diversity in the continent’s social and cultural dynamics, and discussing notions such as community and solidarity in a context of important demographic changes. The language of instruction is English.
