About The Position

Eastown Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join its small-animal general practice in Des Moines, Iowa. The hospital has served pets and families in the community for more than 80 years and emphasizes compassionate care, teamwork, and high-quality veterinary medicine. The role offers the opportunity to use and develop a broad range of veterinary technical skills while supporting veterinarians and educating clients. The schedule is a four-day work week: 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. three days per week and 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m. on Thursdays, with rotating Saturdays from 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m. Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Requirements

Current Registered Veterinary Technician credential or eligibility for credentialing as required in Iowa.

Responsibilities

Support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to patients.
Assist with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
Perform technical nursing duties appropriate to training and credentials.
Safely handle and restrain patients while prioritizing their comfort and well-being.
Collect and prepare diagnostic samples for laboratory testing.
Administer medications and treatments under veterinarian direction.
Assist with surgical preparation, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and recovery.
Support dental procedures and preventive-care services.
Educate clients about treatments, medications, preventive care, and at-home instructions.
Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records.
Communicate effectively with veterinarians and fellow team members.
Help maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment areas.
