About The Position

The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) will work alongside a collaborative team delivering emergency and critical care to small animal patients. This role offers variety, challenge, and room for growth, suitable for both new graduates and seasoned RVTs. The position is full-time, permanent, with a 24/7 emergency and critical care focus in an AAHA accredited facility located in British Columbia, 45 minutes from Vancouver. The Animal Emergency Clinic Fraser Valley (AECFV) has been providing emergency and critical care since 1996, supporting over 100 general practices and operating as one of the largest standalone emergency hospitals in Western Canada. The 8,000 sq ft facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment tools, and houses one of Canada's largest blood banks. AECFV is proudly partnered with Ethos Veterinary Health, providing big-organization support while maintaining a family-founded culture.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technologist, or a recent graduate preparing to write the Veterinary Technician National Examination
  • Passionate about emergency and critical care medicine for small animals
  • Compassion and professionalism in every interaction

  • Able to recognize and manage multiple priorities, including ongoing triage assessment
  • Committed to maintaining professional registration and continuing education

  • Physically able to meet the demands of the role: standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and lifting

Responsibilities

  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Assist the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian direction
  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency and critical care patients
  • Perform ongoing triage assessment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Produce diagnostic radiographs, collect samples, and perform laboratory tests
  • Provide wound and bandage care
  • Counsel clients on animal health care
  • Help mentor visiting practicum students and peers
