About The Position

Village Veterinary Hospital is a long-standing mixed animal hospital with deep ties to the community, located in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. With a deeply loyal clientele, this hospital is always busy and utilizes all associates to the highest level of their skills. Our clinic treats small animals (60%), large animals (40%), as well as emergencies. We offer full-service veterinary medical treatment, ranging from preventive medicine, dental cleanings, in-house laboratory, pharmacy, digital x-rays, digital ultrasound, house calls, and emergency surgical care.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in New Mexico, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire
  • 3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with large and small animals, and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care in a hospital or ranch setting
  • Perform dental procedures, including scaling, polishing, extractions, and suturing
  • Perform IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, and apply casts, bandages, and splints
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures, including intubation, monitoring, and pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Perform laboratory procedures, including cytology set-up and interpretation
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures, including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
  • Handle and restrain a variety of animal species
  • Provide preventive medicine and dental cleanings
  • Conduct house calls
  • Provide emergency surgical care
  • All other duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician as allowable by law
