About The Position

Humane Colorado is hiring Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) to join their Shelter Veterinary Services team. This role involves collaborating with technicians, assistants, and veterinarians to provide critical care, perform diagnostics, and support animal recovery. The position is based at the Leslie A. Malone Center in Denver and focuses on a mission to end pet homelessness and suffering. The purpose of the position is to provide medical care and treatment for animals.

Requirements

Working knowledge of current veterinary practices
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Ability to work in a team environment
High attention to detail
Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or equivalent experience
Completion of a veterinary technician internship or comparable experience
Current registration or able to register as a Veterinary Technician through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies

Responsibilities

Collect samples for testing and perform laboratory tests.
Take and develop x-rays.
Medicate, vaccinate, and treat animals as prescribed by veterinarian.
Administer anesthesia and monitor animals under anesthesia.
Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures. This includes using proper restraint.
Provide medical assistance and counseling to patrons.
Use and maintain medical equipment.
Perform physical examination of animals.
Perform data entry to update animal records.
Clean and maintain work areas.
Perform euthanasia and other related tasks.
Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
