About The Position

Southern Rockies Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital (SRAES) is seeking an ICU Technician to support their Emergency Service. This role involves triaging incoming patients, assisting with diagnostics and treatments, and ensuring efficient patient flow in a fast-paced specialty and emergency setting. SRAES is a 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital that also offers advanced specialty care in surgery and diagnostic imaging, with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Requirements

  • RVT/LVT/CVT preferred required.
  • Strong understanding of emergency triage and patient assessment.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture, patient restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.
  • Experience with radiography and laboratory procedures
  • Anesthesia and sedation monitoring experience preferred.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Anesthesia and sedation monitoring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent patient care to every patient
  • Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate.
  • Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet
  • Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures
  • Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols
  • Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a Veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders
  • Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).
  • Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing Instinct
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients.
  • Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care
  • Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
  • Other duties as needed.
