The technologist will assess patients, operate x-ray equipment, perform procedures like X-rays and CT scans, and follow protocols for contrast media administration. The position also requires operating mobile x-ray equipment in emergency and bedside settings. Responsibilities include preparing and disinfecting rooms and equipment, maintaining supplies, ensuring equipment functionality, and reporting issues. Patient preparation involves transportation, identification, consent, validation of prep and history, explaining procedures, and providing first aid if needed. Adherence to radiation safety policies to protect patients and staff is crucial, including minimizing retakes, using radiation reduction techniques, wearing monitoring devices, and ensuring proper shielding for visitors and staff. The role also includes patient documentation, EHR system use, assisting with department policies, and accurate billing documentation. Effective communication with healthcare team members regarding patient condition and satisfaction is essential, as is identifying and reporting changes in patient status. Other duties as assigned will also be performed.
