Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
  • Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
  • Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
  • Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
  • Strong drive, respect, and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
  • Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
  • Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a great customer service experience by demonstrating compassion and empathy towards residents, family members, and the team.
  • Embrace a holistic, resident-centric approach to care by delivering personalized services at the highest quality.
  • Provide planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with provincial standards of care.
  • Build trusted relationships with residents, families, and teams through continuous and effective communication.
  • Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make changes as required.
  • Complete and ensure resident's clinical care assessments, care plans, and documentation are accurate and up-to-date, communicating changes as required.
  • Teach, delegate, and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching and mentorship.
