About The Position
The Registered Nurse in the Orthopedic Department at Saint Francis Hospital cares for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, joint replacement, spinal disorders, and sports injuries. The role serves patients in a fast-paced unit, including those recovering from surgery and those with trauma cases. The RN administers medications and uses non-pharmacological techniques to manage pain, monitors surgical wounds and dressings, assists patients with early ambulation, explains movement restrictions, and collaborates with physical therapists. The RN also educates patients about preoperative and postoperative procedures and what to expect during recovery.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
- Valid RN license in Connecticut.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Two or more years of orthopedic or surgical experience in an acute inpatient setting.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Responsibilities
