About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the RN coordinates care and communicates and collaborates extensively with team members, patients, and patients’ families or significant others. The RN maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics. This is a part-time, on-site position at Virtua Health’s Mount Holly location. The schedule is 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., with 24 total weekly hours, on the second shift.

Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Maintain current nursing practice knowledge through ongoing education, journals, and similar resources.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license; approved licenses must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board and the department-specific educational/regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety issues.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other nursing department and healthcare team members.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
