About The Position

Wythe County Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Nurse to work alongside surgical teams and help ensure patients receive excellent care. The nurse serves as a liaison between the surgical team and patients’ families and provides preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. The role involves preparing the operating room, ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are ready and sterile, monitoring patients during surgery, and maintaining accurate records. The schedule is PRN, on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Active Virginia single-state RN license or compact license; if relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Proven work experience as an Operating Room Nurse or in a similar healthcare role.
• CNOR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before surgery and help alleviate their concerns.
• Ensure instruments are sterile and surgical equipment is in working order.
• Assist surgical teams during operations and adjust treatment as needed.
• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
• Monitor patient vital signs during surgery and alert the surgical team to changes.
• Provide postoperative care and education to patients and their families.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Comply with health and safety regulations, including sanitation and infection control procedures.
