About The Position

Nexus MedPro Staffing is seeking an experienced Stepdown / Progressive Care Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel nursing assignment at an acute care hospital in Mount Airy, North Carolina. The nurse provides specialized care to adult patients who need closer monitoring and treatment than a traditional Medical-Surgical unit but do not require full intensive care services. The role involves cardiac telemetry, progressive care, neurological stepdown, and management of complex medical conditions. Nurses should be able to interpret cardiac rhythms, manage IV medications and cardiac drips, respond to changes in patient conditions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The assignment is in a 12-bed Intermediate Critical Care / Stepdown unit, with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. The schedule is three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, for 36 hours weekly. Nurses work every other weekend, approximately 12 weekend shifts during the contract, and must float between Stepdown and ICU according to census and staffing needs. There is no on-call requirement. The unit serves adults, has cardiac monitoring in every room and continuous pulse oximetry, and has 12-lead ECG capabilities. Mechanically ventilated patients are not routinely assigned to the Stepdown unit. Self-scheduling is available, and black scrubs are required.
