About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and records patient conditions, and communicates updates as appropriate. The nurse coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and collaborates with the healthcare team to assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs.

The position is based at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham, in the Administration department, and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Professional licensure at the time of hire.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Current wound care certification from a nationally recognized accrediting organization, such as WOCN or equivalent; certification must be maintained according to the certifying body’s requirements.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator across disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
