Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health (BHU) - Flexi/PRN
About The Position
Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for a flexi/PRN, Day shift in Suffolk, VA. Flexi/PRN is as needed day shift hours. The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Sentara Obici Hospital is a licensed 20-bed unit that sees dual diagnosis behavioral health patients, including but not limited to Bi-polar, schizophrenia, major depression, and substance abuse. It is a low to moderate acuity locked unit with high customer service and employee engagement scores. Nurses work with a full interdisciplinary behavioral health team, including mental health techs, LPNs, Behavioral Health Therapists, Recreational Therapists, Nurse Practitioners, and Psychiatrists. The unit utilizes a team nursing structure where all members are engaged in patient care, and group therapy sessions are provided on the unit.
Requirements
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
- 1 year of acute care (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Adhere to the standards of practice, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation.
- Uphold the standards of professional performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
- Engage in patient care within a team nursing structure.
- Provide group therapy sessions on the unit.
