About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the PACU provides, promotes, and maintains quality patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures through education, standards of practice, professional growth, and collaboration with multidisciplinary health care providers. The role includes developing and documenting patient care and education plans, verifying orders and procedural preparations, administering medications and IV therapy safely, and interpreting diagnostic data to take appropriate action.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Nursing.
Valid permanent multi-state RN license from the state in which the employee resides. An RN licensed in another compact state must apply for and obtain a multi-state license from their state of residence within 30 days.
American Heart Association BLS CPR certification, to be obtained within 7 days of hire.
American Heart Association ACLS and PALS, required within the orientation period.

Nice To Haves

Six months of critical care or telemetry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Initiates and documents a written plan of care within the specified timeframe.
Develops and documents an education plan on the written care plan and adjusts it as the patient’s condition changes.
Verifies orders for accuracy during hospitalization, including medication reconciliation, appropriate scheduling of tests and procedures, pre-operative data, and consent forms.
Follows medication and IV therapy policies, including patient identification, medication education and administration, and recognizing and reporting interactions; monitors first-dose medications for adverse reactions.
Interprets diagnostic data and takes appropriate action when indicated, including notifying physicians of critical lab values according to hospital protocol.
Performs related duties as required.
