About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2, our Medical Oncology unit in Charlottesville, VA. This unit specializes in surgical Oncology, urology, vascular, and chest tube care, providing a dynamic environment for experienced nursing professionals. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5/1:6. We care for a diverse patient population, including those with CHF, COPD, oncology patients with neutropenia or new diagnoses, and amputations. The role operates on 12-hour shifts with weekend rotations. Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a Magnet status, 176-bed facility featuring all patient-friendly private rooms. Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• Oncology Care - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.
• None required (for experience)

Nice To Haves

• Acute care nursing experience in a similar scope of practice.
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN
• Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
• 1 year of acute care nursing experience
• Previous healthcare experience

Responsibilities

• Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
• Ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
• Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
