About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Endoscopy Department at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. The RN works in a fast-paced, collaborative clinical environment, providing patient-centered care while supporting a wide range of procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, EUS, bronchoscopy, and ERCP. The nurse works alongside gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, nurses, technicians, and coordinators to deliver tertiary-level care in a community setting. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week union position with 8-hour weekday shifts and rotating start times of 6:30 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM. The role includes rotating on-call responsibilities on weekends, weekdays, and holidays, with a required 30-minute response time. On-call schedules are based on team rotation and may change. Comprehensive onboarding is provided. Qualified candidates may receive a sign-on incentive of up to $15,000. The work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The RN must fulfill job-specific obligations and comply with organizational policies and procedures. Department-specific orientation competencies and skills are also essential to the role.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania.
At least 1 year of nursing experience.
Graduate from a specialty training program.
Basic Life Support certification.
Clinical skills, communication, computer literacy, health information systems, interpersonal communication, and teamwork skills.

Experience in pre-procedural or post-procedural care is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist providers during GI endoscopic procedures.
Administer medications, IV therapy, and conscious sedation.
Monitor patients during and after procedures.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
Educate patients and families about procedures and recovery.
Lead and support other clinic nurses and technicians.
Maintain and inspect medical equipment and supplies.
Participate in the on-call rotation, including weekends, weekdays, and holidays, with a 30-minute response time.
