About The Position
Inova Loudoun Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Labor and Delivery Unit. This PRN role has hours as needed, subject to change based on unit needs. The nurse provides safe, compassionate, evidence-based care in a patient- and family-centered manner and collaborates with the healthcare team to support patient outcomes. Inova Women's Health provides care across childbirth, reproductive health, pelvic care, behavioral health, breast health, and other conditions affecting women.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing; nurses with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) must complete a BSN within five years of their start date.
- At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse; the posting also states that Critical Care unit roles require one year of Registered Nurse experience in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association upon start.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or an active multistate Registered Nurse license.

- Two years of recent Registered Nurse inpatient experience on a Labor and Delivery Unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care in a patient- and family-centered manner.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, interpret data, and identify care priorities.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Evaluate patient progress, anticipate changes, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Coordinate care and discharge planning with the healthcare team and community resources.
- Advocate for patients’ rights and ensure their needs and preferences are respected.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with standards.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines.
- Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and preceptor to peers and new staff.
- Engage in professional growth, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
