About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the 12-bed Intensive Care Unit at Thompson Hospital, a modern, patient-focused environment providing critical care to the community. Private patient rooms provide space for advanced monitoring technology while supporting bedside care and time with patients’ friends and loved ones. The position uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care; provides patient education; and coordinates ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing practice standards. The role is full-time, scheduled for 36 hours per week on 12-hour day, evening, or night shifts, with weekends and holidays assigned according to department scheduling guidelines.

Requirements

• NYS-licensed registered nurse.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• ACLS certification within one year.
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• BSN required, or commitment to complete one within five years of appointment.
• Certification in a clinical specialty or willingness to complete it when eligible.
• Evidence of a cardiac arrhythmia course or critical care course, or completion within one year of employment.
• At least one year of medical/surgical experience.
• Able to prioritize and plan for the unexpected.
• Able to delegate tasks appropriately.

Nice To Haves

• CCRN certification preferred.
• Cardiac monitoring experience preferred.
• Critical care experience preferred.
