About The Position

The ICU Registered Nurse cares for cardiac and medical intensive care patients, as well as some step-down overflow patients. The role requires strong cardiac ICU experience, typically gained in a CCU, CVICU, or cardiopulmonary ICU, to care for patients with complex cardiac diagnoses and advanced cardiac devices. Patients may require care involving LVADs, Impella, IABP, ventilators, CRRT, invasive lines, and hemodynamic monitoring. The patient ratio experience is 2:1. The shift is three 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

• Strong cardiac ICU experience, typically in a CCU, CVICU, or cardiopulmonary ICU.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• NIH certification.
• Experience interpreting dysrhythmias.
• Experience managing dysrhythmias.
• Experience with patients after cardiac surgery (not directly from the OR).
• Experience with pre- and post-cardiac catheterization or intervention care.
• Experience with sheath removal.
• Experience with advanced cardiac devices and care involving Impella, IABP, ventilators, CRRT, invasive lines, and hemodynamic monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for cardiac and medical intensive care patients and some step-down overflow patients.
• Care for patients using advanced cardiac devices, including LVAD, Impella, IABP, and TVP.
• Manage patients requiring ventilators, CRRT, invasive lines, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Provide care for patients following cardiac surgery, not directly from the OR.
• Provide pre- and post-cardiac catheterization or intervention care, including sheath removal.
