About The Position

Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced nurse for its Ortho/Neuro Unit. This is a day-shift position with 12-hour shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The travel RN may be required to float to other units. The role requires working every other weekend and holiday.

The nurse uses the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to care for patients. The nurse administers prescribed medications and treatments, documents care, and develops and carries out individualized patient plans of care, including patient and family instruction. The position also contributes to unit performance improvement and supports the patient’s longitudinal plan of care through clinical expertise and guidance. The nurse applies critical thinking to patient safety and experience and escalates concerns through the appropriate chain of command.

Requirements

• Experienced nurse.
• Current Wisconsin license.
• NIHSS certification.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Education verification is required.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws and practice acts.
• Document according to standards of care.
• Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care as prescribed by a physician and/or hospital policy, including patient and family instruction.
• Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
• Use critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience, and escalate appropriately through the chain of command.
• Float to other units as required.
