About The Position

This experienced travel RN position is based in the Ortho/Neuro Unit at Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, Wisconsin. The schedule is day shift, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., in 12-hour shifts. The nurse may be required to float to other units and must work every other weekend and holiday.

The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to provide patient care, administers prescribed medications and treatments, documents care, and develops and implements individualized patient care plans. The role also includes patient and family instruction, participation in unit or department performance-improvement activities, support for patients’ longitudinal plans of care, and use of critical thinking to promote safety and a positive patient experience.

Requirements

• Experienced nurse.
• Current Wisconsin nursing license.
• NIHSS certification.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Education verification is required.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws and practice acts.
• Document according to standards of care.
• Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care as prescribed by a physician and/or hospital policy, including patient and family instruction.
• Participate in department or unit performance-improvement activities, which may include shared governance.
• Use clinical expertise and provide guidance to other units or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
• Apply critical thinking to patient safety and experience, and appropriately escalate concerns through the chain of command.
• Float to other units as required.
• Work every other weekend and holiday.
