About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in PACU provides, promotes, and maintains quality patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures through education, adherence to standards of practice, professional growth, and collaboration with multidisciplinary health care providers. The role includes planning and documenting patient care and education, verifying orders and pre-procedure documentation, following medication and IV therapy policies, monitoring medication responses, and interpreting diagnostic data to take appropriate action.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Nursing.
Valid permanent Multi-State RN License from the state in which the candidate resides. Nurses holding an RN license from another Compact state must apply for and obtain a Multi-State RN License from their state of residence within 30 days.
American Heart Association BLS CPR certification, to be obtained within 7 days of hire.
American Heart Association ACLS and PALS, required within the orientation period.

Nice To Haves

Six months of critical care or telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

Initiate and document a written plan of care within the specified timeframe.
Develop and document an education plan in the written care plan, and adjust it as the patient’s condition changes.
During hospitalization, verify orders for accuracy, including medication reconciliation, scheduling of tests and procedures, pre-op data, and consent forms.
Follow medication and IV therapy policies, including patient identification, medication understanding and administration, and recognizing and reporting interactions.
Monitor first-dose medications appropriately for adverse reactions.
Interpret diagnostic data and take appropriate action when indicated, including notifying physicians of critical lab values according to hospital protocol.
Perform related duties as required.
