Provides leadership in coordinating and delivering quality, compassionate patient care. Uses the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide, delegate, supervise, and document patient care and teaching for patients and families. Communicates pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team, participates in finding solutions when patient goals are not met, and ensures those solutions are implemented. Advocates for patients while planning, delivering, and evaluating goal-focused, individualized, safe, age-specific care, including for patients with complex pathophysiological or psychosocial needs. The role is on 2GPU, a post-surgical unit specializing in orthopedic surgery patients. Patients primarily arrive from the post-anesthesia care unit after bariatric, urology, colorectal, orthopedic, and other general surgeries; the unit also receives general medical-surgical admissions from the emergency department. The unit offers opportunities to develop and expand nursing skills across a varied patient population.
