About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Inpatient will deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care of the patient, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The RN will incorporate age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care and initiate action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information. They will also maintain continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. This is a full-time night position on a 16-bed surgical unit at Texas Health Frisco, which is a fast-paced unit with quick turnover. The unit has a 1:4 patient ratio, at times 1:5, and experience with tele and surgical patients is preferred, as the unit also takes med/surg overflow.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma
• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
• One-year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
• RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
• ACLS - upon hire required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• One year of Emergency experience strongly preferred
• 1-2 years charge experience in Medical Surgical preferred
• BCLS - upon hire - expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
