The Registered Nurse in Cardiac Rehab will evaluate and assist patients, their significant others, and families in acquiring clinical information and education. This role utilizes established principles of teaching-learning theory and life-style counseling, individualizing instructions for persons of all ages while incorporating their cultural preferences, health beliefs, and learning styles. The nurse will adhere to the Standards of Practice for their specialty, develop, review, and update educational information for patients and staff, and evaluate patient's/family's response to education, treatment, and health services. They will serve as a resource to nursing staff, nursing students, other healthcare personnel, and the community, incorporating new techniques and knowledge acquired through continuing education and evidence-based practice. Strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to document patient assessment, education, learning barriers, interventions, and patient response to education.
