The Registered Nurse in Cardiac Rehab will evaluate and assist patients and their significant others, and family in the acquisition of clinical information and education. This role uses established principles of teaching-learning theory and life-style counseling, individualizing instructions for persons of all ages, incorporating their cultural preferences, health beliefs and learning styles. The nurse will adhere to the Standards of Practice for their field of specialty, develop, review and update educational information for patients and staff, and evaluate patient's/family's response to education, treatment and health services provided. This position also serves as a resource to nursing staff, nursing students, other health care personnel and the community, and incorporates new techniques and knowledge acquired through continuing education and evidence-based practice. The role requires strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to document patient assessment, education, learning barriers and interventions, and patient response to education.
