About The Position
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Medical/Telemetry acute care unit on the day shift. The nurse cares for a diverse adult patient population with complex medical conditions in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that emphasizes critical thinking, prioritization, teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional autonomy. The Registered Nurse provides competent nursing care using the nursing process and applicable standards of professional practice. Duties include assessing and admitting patients, performing rounds and checks, administering medications, communicating with family members, and overseeing the overall care of assigned patients. The RN is expected to meet the requirements of the specific specialty and maintain the clinical knowledge and skills needed for the area. New graduates are welcome to apply. The posting notes a bonus opportunity of up to $15,000, or up to $7,500 for new graduates.
Requirements
- RN diploma, ADN, BSN, or MSN.
- Valid Registered Nurse license to work in Virginia.
- BLS certification and NIHSS within 90 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Previous RN experience preferred; new graduates are welcome.
Responsibilities
- Assess and admit patients.
- Perform rounding checks.
- Administer medications.
- Communicate with patients’ family members.
- Coordinate and oversee the overall care of assigned patients.
- Apply the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
- Meet applicable standards of professional performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Meet and maintain requirements defined for the clinical specialty.
