About The Position

Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full-time Registered Nurse residency position designed to help recent nursing graduates transition into professional practice. The program provides a collaborative learning environment, clinical mentoring by unit staff and educators, and career-development opportunities. Successful candidates are placed in specific units and are expected to remain on their NNE unit for at least 12 months. New graduates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned facility. The role is in the 24-bed PCU Trauma unit, which cares for patients with traumatic brain injuries and wounds. The unit is fast-paced and emphasizes teamwork, teaching, and collaboration among staff, physicians, and other therapies. The nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services provided by the nurse or others under their direction, and requires specialized nursing knowledge and judgment to provide care suited to patients’ physical and developmental needs. The residency includes preceptor-supported clinical experiences, training at the Banner Simulation Center, competency and skills assessments, orientation to the Cerner electronic medical record, hands-on patient-care skills lab training, e-learning modules, and professional and personal development resources. Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations. The position is full-time, paid, and benefits-eligible. Compensation includes a $3-per-hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night-shift differential when applicable. Benefits may include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO and sick-time accrual, 401(k), and other benefits; benefits begin on the first day of the month following the start date.
