About The Position

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its 6B Medical Unit in Newark, Delaware. The nurse will work three 12-hour shifts each week on the day shift, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with weekends and holidays included according to department guidelines. The role implements a relationship-based care model, building connections with patients, families, and colleagues while being guided by ChristianaCare’s values of love and excellence. Unit 6B is a 40-patient inpatient unit providing acute and chronic medical services to adults aged 18 and older. The unit cares for patients with a range of diagnoses and needs, including pneumonia, syncope, diabetes management, COPD, and altered mental status. Patients are admitted or transferred from the emergency department, ICU, step-down unit, home, and doctors’ offices. The charge nurse makes daily staffing assignments based on patient diagnosis, condition, acuity, age, developmental level, and staff qualifications.

Requirements

RN license in Delaware or a Compact State.
At least one year of medical/surgical experience as a registered nurse.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to perform the physical activities listed for the practice area, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, twisting, handling, stooping, and climbing.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred, or commitment to acquire a BSN within three years of the hire date.
