About The Position

Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its 3B General Medical Unit. Unit 3B is a 32-bed inpatient general medical unit with telemetry that provides scheduled and emergent care and procedures around the clock. It serves adult and geriatric patients whose conditions range from fair to serious. Patients may be received, transferred, or admitted from home, the emergency department, physicians’ offices, and other hospital units. The unit cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses and needs, including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, alcohol or opioid withdrawal, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, altered mental status, osteomyelitis, back pain, diabetes, and cellulitis. This is a part-time position of 24 hours per week, with either 12-hour night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. or 8-hour night shifts from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Weekend and holiday work follows department guidelines.

Requirements

Hold a Delaware RN license or a compact nursing license.
Have a BSN or commit to obtaining a BSN within three years of the hire date.
Have at least one year of acute-care or sub-acute-care experience.
Have current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Provide scheduled and emergent nursing care and procedures for adult and geriatric inpatients on the 3B General Medical Unit.
Care for patients with a range of medical diagnoses, including respiratory conditions, withdrawal, gastrointestinal symptoms, altered mental status, osteomyelitis, back pain, diabetes, and cellulitis.
