About The Position

A registered professional nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked. This role involves coordinating the nursing plan of care, carrying out physician orders and nursing standards of care using the nursing process. The nurse also directs and guides other members of the patient care team. Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
  • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
  • CPR
  • ACLS within one year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN
  • Med-surg Certification
  • Nursing Profession Development (NPD) – Board Certified

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked.
  • Coordination of the nursing plan of care.
  • Carrying out physician orders and nursing standards of care using the nursing process.
  • Directing and guiding other members of the patient care team.
  • Unit and annual competencies to be completed each year.
  • HIPPA - no breaches of confidentiality.
  • No related complaints voiced on patient satisfaction surveys.
  • No related complaints voiced by fellow care providers of observed incidences.
  • Knowledgeable of location and content of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to Nurse Practice Act-Scope of Practice.
  • Application of Basic computer skills.
  • Adherence to National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Clinical competence in all aspects of the unit.
