About The Position

This role focuses on providing specialized orthopedic care in an inpatient setting, specifically for post-surgical patients. The nurse will execute clinical treatments, manage immobilization devices, and apply evidence-based protocols to ensure optimal musculoskeletal recovery and patient safety. Key responsibilities include monitoring neurovascular status, managing acute pain, adjusting care plans to support early mobility, and preventing complications. The nurse will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure a coordinated recovery. Additionally, the role involves assessing discharge needs, coordinating home medical equipment, and educating families on safe transfer techniques and weight-bearing restrictions.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing required.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR professional licensure at time of hire required.

Responsibilities

Deliver specialized orthopedic care by executing clinical treatments, managing traction/immobilization devices, and applying evidence-based protocols to ensure optimal musculoskeletal recovery and patient safety.
Manage and adapt post-surgical recovery plans by closely monitoring neurovascular status, managing acute pain, and adjusting care to support early mobility and prevent complications.
Champion multidisciplinary rehabilitation by partnering closely with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to ensure a seamless, well-coordinated recovery journey.
Advocate for safe patient transitions by assessing discharge needs, coordinating home medical equipment (like CPM machines or walkers), and educating families on safe transfer techniques and weight-bearing restrictions.
