The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of residents in a designated area of the facility. This role ensures the continuum of quality care by communicating effectively with off-going and arriving shifts. The RN makes rounds to evaluate residents' physical, emotional, and social needs, ensuring they are met by the assigned staff. They assess the staff's ability to provide care and intervene as needed, supervising Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs) and providing education. The RN also prepares and administers medications and treatments, consults with physicians, transcribes orders, and reviews and ensures adherence to resident care plans. Documentation is a key part of the role, as is participating in employee evaluations and staff meetings. The Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing.
