The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of residents in a designated area of the facility. This role involves communicating with off-going and arriving shifts to ensure a continuum of quality care. The RN makes rounds, evaluates residents' physical, emotional, and social needs, and ensures these are met by the assigned staff. The RN assesses the staff's ability to provide care and intervenes as needed, supervising Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs) and providing education. Adjustments to assignments are made as indicated. The RN prepares and administers medications and treatments, consults with physicians, receives and transcribes orders, and makes rounds with physicians when necessary. They review and ensure resident care plans are followed and document according to facility policies and procedures. Participation in employee evaluations, staff meetings, and in-services is also required. The RN reports to the Director of Nursing and/or Assistant Director of Nursing.
