The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN uses the nursing process, technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other health team members to provide care in the Med/Surg unit at Spanish Fork Hospital. This is a PRN position, primarily on night shifts, with the option to pick up day shifts as available. No remote work is available. There are currently no on-call requirements, though they may change based on staffing needs. The position requires 2–4 weekend shifts per 8-week schedule cycle, based on staffing needs. Holidays follow a three-block rotation, with five holidays assigned per block throughout the year. The RN assesses patients’ physical, social, and psychological status and gathers information from patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. The RN collaboratively develops individualized care plans, involves patients and families in care and education, and prepares patients for support needs after the current episode of care. The RN coordinates and delegates care appropriately, manages time and resources, evaluates patient responses and outcomes, and revises care plans as needed. The role also promotes the nursing profession, supports the development of others, follows legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, practices within licensure, and documents care accurately and promptly. The role requires physical capabilities including seeing and reading information, communicating and hearing clearly, using hands and fingers to operate equipment and computers, lifting and transferring patients and supplies, walking and assisting with patient transport, pushing and pulling equipment, navigating busy rooms, and potentially standing for extended periods. Driving-related requirements apply only to roles that require driving.
