About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the PACU- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This is a part time day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Schedules available include two 10-hour shifts and required call, or three 10-hour shifts and required call. A sign-on bonus of $7500 is available for qualified candidates. The Post- Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nursing Staff are responsible for observing and treating post-operative patients from a variety of service lines including radiology, Endoscopy, General surgery, Urology, Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. PACU is a 12-bed unit with a 1 to 2 nursing to patient ratio. Operating hours are 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM Monday to Friday with designated overnight and weekend call staff to mitigate call shift burden. Call requirements include one Friday overnight call shift every 6 to 8 weeks, and approximately six to eight evening call shifts Monday-Thursday per six-week schedule. Call shifts are assigned on the same day as scheduled day shifts. There is one 24-hour holiday call shift per year. Call requirements are subject to unit needs and may require occasional additional hours. Experienced RNs can expect 6 to 12 weeks of orientation on the unit. Sentara Martha Jefferson has under a 12.6% RN Turnover rate and the highest Patient Satisfaction scores in the system. Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • ACLS required prior to completion of orientation
  • PALS required prior to completion of orientation
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • 1-2 years of RN Experience
  • Critical care or PACU experience in hospital required
  • Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
  • Communication with patients and providers

Responsibilities
