The Registered Nurse (RN), PACU is part of Wilson Medical Center’s perioperative services team, helping patients recover safely and comfortably after anesthesia. The PACU is adjacent to the operating room and can accommodate up to eight patients, including one isolation room. Staffing follows American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) standards. Surgical services include general surgery, urology, gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry, and DaVinci robotic surgery. Nurses typically work 10-hour shifts, which may vary with caseload and workflow. Night, weekend, and holiday call is required. Call-back response time is 30 minutes; hospital call rooms are available for staff who live outside that response time. The role calls for compassion, understanding of critical care principles, and advanced patient-monitoring skills.
