About The Position

A Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. The nurse delivers direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while supporting the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current license to practice nursing in Texas, or eligibility to obtain one.
• 12 months of RN work experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow general hospital standards and promote a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
• Take responsibility for the nursing components of patient, family, and significant-other education.
• Communicate with the care team, coworkers, patients, and family members, and evaluate their understanding of information.
• Create and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
• Ensure patient information is communicated in writing completely, accurately, and promptly.
• Provide a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
• Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
• Use the nursing process to ensure quality patient care throughout the episode of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
