About The Position
Jacksonville Surgery Center is seeking a PreOp/PACU Nurse to provide safe and effective postoperative nursing care until patients are dismissed from the ambulatory surgery center. The nurse prepares patient care areas and equipment, monitors patients, provides airway and IV care, documents assessments, checks operative sites, and helps ensure a safe, comfortable environment for patients and families. This is a PRN opportunity at Jacksonville Surgery Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or higher degree in Nursing.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
- Active RN license as required by the state of employment.
- BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not acceptable.
- ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Nursing experience in Preop, PACU, ER, ICU, or Surgery is preferred.
- PALS certification if required by the facility, within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients’ care areas and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Demonstrate proper airway management techniques.
- Monitor patients according to policy, including vital signs, temperature, and cardiac status.
- Properly insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks.
- Perform and document head-to-toe patient evaluations using an approved scoring system in accordance with HCA policy and procedure.
- Check patient dressings and/or operative sites and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
- Provide a safe and comforting environment for patients and their families.
- Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
- Provide safe and effective postoperative nursing care until patients are dismissed from the facility.
