About The Position

UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an ICU Nurse Residency/Transition to Practice. This program will be with Montlake’s four ICU Departments and will commence August 17, 2026. The position closes on May 18, 2026. The four hiring ICU Departments accepting applications for these opportunities are: Surgical ICU (14 beds, patient population includes direct recovery for ICU surgical cases and liver transplants), Medical ICU (24 beds, patient population includes medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant), Cardiothoracic ICU (24 beds, patient population includes cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, vascular, heart and lung transplant, MCS, VV, ECLS, and TAVR), and CCU ICU (21 beds, patient population includes acute heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre heart transplant patients and post-cardiac cath lab procedures). Requirements

  • Active WA RN license, or valid Multistate RN license no later than August 3, 2026.
  • At least two years of registered nursing experience in an acute care environment.
  • If nursing resident, must have ICU Senior Practicum experience, ICU Clinicals, or have worked in an ICU Department in another health care provider role, i.e., PCT, MA, Health Unit Coordinator.
  • BLS and ACLS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct recovery for ICU surgical cases and liver transplants.
  • Care for medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant patients.
  • Care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, vascular, heart and lung transplant, MCS, VV, ECLS, and TAVR patients.
  • Care for patients with acute heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre heart transplant patients and post-cardiac cath lab procedures.
