About The Position

UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an ICU Nurse Residency/Transition to Practice. This program will be with Montlake’s four ICU Departments and will commence August 17, 2026. The Surgical ICU is a 14-bed unit focusing on direct recovery for ICU surgical cases and liver transplants. The Medical ICU is a 24-bed unit with a patient population including medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant. The Cardiothoracic ICU is a 24-bed unit caring for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, vascular, heart and lung transplant, MCS, VV, ECLS, and TAVR. The CCU ICU is a 21-bed unit for patients with acute heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre-heart transplant patients, and post-cardiac cath lab procedures. Requirements

  • Active WA RN license, or valid Multistate RN license no later than August 3, 2026.
  • At least two years of registered nursing experience in an acute care environment.
  • If a nursing resident, must have ICU Senior Practicum experience, ICU Clinicals, or have worked in an ICU Department in another healthcare provider role (e.g., PCT, MA, Health Unit Coordinator).
  • BLS and ACLS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct recovery for ICU surgical cases and liver transplants (Surgical ICU).
  • Care for medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant patients (Medical ICU).
  • Care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, vascular, heart and lung transplant, MCS, VV, ECLS, and TAVR (Cardiothoracic ICU).
  • Care for patients with acute heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre-heart transplant patients, and post-cardiac cath lab procedures (CCU ICU).
