About The Position

UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an ICU Nurse Residency/Transition to Practice. This program will be with Montlake’s four ICU Departments and will commence August 17, 2026. The Surgical ICU is a 14-bed unit focusing on direct recovery for ICU surgical cases and liver transplants. The Medical ICU is a 24-bed unit with a patient population including medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant. The Cardiothoracic ICU is a 24-bed unit caring for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, vascular, heart and lung transplant, MCS, VV, ECLS, and TAVR. The CCU ICU is a 21-bed unit for patients with acute heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre-heart transplant patients, and post-cardiac cath lab procedures. Requirements

Active WA RN license, or valid Multistate RN license no later than August 3, 2026.
At least two years of registered nursing experience in an acute care environment.
If a nursing resident, must have ICU Senior Practicum experience, ICU Clinicals, or have worked in an ICU Department in another healthcare provider role (e.g., PCT, MA, Health Unit Coordinator).
BLS and ACLS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide direct recovery for ICU surgical cases and liver transplants (Surgical ICU).
Care for medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant patients (Medical ICU).
Care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, vascular, heart and lung transplant, MCS, VV, ECLS, and TAVR (Cardiothoracic ICU).
Care for patients with acute heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, pre-heart transplant patients, and post-cardiac cath lab procedures (CCU ICU).
