About The Position

The Registered Nurse Intermediate Care role is in the Progressive Care department at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In this part-time, weekend position, the nurse executes complex medical orders and treatment strategies in partnership with physicians, coordinating interdisciplinary care and advocating for patients through health monitoring and documentation. The role also leads discharge and transition planning, educating patients and families and helping prepare them for recovery at home.

Requirements

• Obtain Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Obtain BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Obtain a Tennessee Registered Nurse license, or a current home-state license eligible for multistate Compact recognition, before hire or job transfer.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or the required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately execute complex medical orders and treatment strategies in partnership with physicians.
• Coordinate communication and collaboration across the interdisciplinary team to support holistic, integrated care.
• Advocate for patients by tracking health trends and documenting progress to inform timely interventions.
• Lead discharge and transition planning, educating patients and families and providing tools to support recovery at home.
