About The Position

The FLEX-ICU is a 12-bed unit specializing in the critical needs of patients within the first 24-72 hours of illness requiring intensive nursing care. The major specialties treated in this ICU are Medicine, Surgical, Neurological and Cardiac and Donor Care patients. The patient population specializes in critical condition, with most patients generally stabilizing within 24-48 hours following admission. Patient care focuses on stabilizing cardio-pulmonary functioning, maintaining adequate circulatory volume and perfusion, preserving the patient’s protective mechanisms and controlling pain. This short stay ICU will receive patients from ER, outside hospitals and other ICUs as needed to support hospital capacity. This unit will also support step-down level of care patients and is planned to be a hybrid of ICU/Stepdown patients.
