About The Position

The Burn/ENT Special Care Unit (BESCU) provides specialized care for a diverse group of older adolescent and adult patients. The service manages individuals with acute burn injuries, complex wounds, and various skin conditions requiring advanced treatment and reconstruction. In addition, BESCU delivers expert care for Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) patients undergoing major head and neck cancer surgery and reconstructive procedures, including free flap reconstruction. The unit also supports patients with newly created surgical airways such as tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and stents, as well as those receiving treatment for airway stenosis and other complex ENT reconstruction surgeries. The inpatient ICU is a 10-bed unit with variable acuity. As part of the Clifton Campus of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati’s academic health system, University of Cincinnati Medical Center has served Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • CN 1 designation
  • Experience with Burn/ENT Special Care Unit patients
  • Ability to work nights

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an ICU setting
  • Familiarity with ONA (Ohio Nurses Association) guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized care for older adolescent and adult patients with acute burn injuries, complex wounds, and various skin conditions requiring advanced treatment and reconstruction.
  • Deliver expert care for Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) patients undergoing major head and neck cancer surgery and reconstructive procedures, including free flap reconstruction.
  • Support patients with newly created surgical airways such as tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and stents.
  • Treat patients with airway stenosis and other complex ENT reconstruction surgeries.
  • Manage patients in a 10-bed inpatient ICU with variable acuity.
  • Ensure continuity of patient care from admission to discharge for all burn patients.
  • Utilize cutting-edge surgical and reconstructive techniques.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve an integrated, patient-centered approach.
