About The Position

The Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Nurse provides direct nursing care to adult patients with complex medical and surgical needs, including continuous cardiac monitoring via telemetry. The role includes comprehensive patient assessments, medication and treatment administration, monitoring patient progress, and close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes. The nurse is responsible for accurate and timely documentation in Epic, bedside shift reporting, and patient and family education.

Requirements

• Associate's degree required.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor telemetry for cardiac abnormalities.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy as prescribed.
• Manage patients with a range of medical-surgical diagnoses and post-operative needs.
• Document nursing care, patient responses, and bedside shift reports accurately in Epic.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
• Promote patient safety by following infection control, fall prevention, and other safety protocols.
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional development.
