RN - Registered Nurse - Nursing - Manager - Days
About The Position
The Registered Nurse Manager oversees activities, workflow, and nursing resources for assigned nursing units. The role ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, identifies and resolves issues affecting patient care, and develops and implements policies and procedures to support efficient and effective health services. The manager also monitors the unit budget and approves or monitors expenditures, purchases, and other actions for budget compliance. The position is in Nursing Administration at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham, with a schedule of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Requirements
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before hire or job transfer.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Required professional licensure/certification, at least 3 years of experience, and at least 1 year of cumulative leadership experience.
Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within the unit.
- Hire, train, direct, develop, and evaluate staff.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of patient care services for assigned unit(s).
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
- Monitor and adhere to the budget; approve or monitor expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
